“What I’m saying to all the Designers that love producing 2Advanced-looking-flash-websites is that if you ABSOLUTELY must do Flash, do it in a way that it’s transparent to the user. Always provide an alternative XHTML Version, and ideally, one that doesn’t SUCK compared to the full version. I know this sometimes collide with the budget allocated for the project, but at least try to explain the benefits of it to your clients. Don’t try to re-invent the way people browse the web, it will only look cool for the first 2 weeks, once people get bored/used to how it looks, they will expect something more substantial, more intuitive than just a looped video on the background of the page.”

Wilson Miner: Not the biggest fan of green but what makes this site interesting is that it uses a new CSS3 feature - RGBA colours. A = alpha. Not only that but the grid is awesome! A definite homage to good ole Josef Müller Brockmann (via simplebits)

“Observing these tests was more than a bit frustrating for the Yahoo! OpenID team, and the test subjects may have been distracted by the sounds of the groans and head-pounding coming from the other side of the one-way mirror. Certainly there is a lot of work to be done on the OpenID UX (user experience) front.”
- Yahoo! Releases OpenID Research. And it’s exactly what you’d expect. Your average Yahoo! user has no fucken idea what OpenID is nor how to use it. There is still a large amount to do on OpenID UX.

“A recession means technologists cease to be paid vast amounts to duplicate the work of others. The Great Tech Bust of Ought Two gave us 37Signals, Flickr, and del.icio.us and there’s a strong argument to be made that many companies spent the next six years chasing what they created.”
